Both Feet Underground: 10 Years of Cantastic x Loop Colors
An exclusive interview celebrating a decade of graffiti culture, independent community, and the launch of a very special anniversary collaboration.
1. The 10-Year Milestone
This year, Cantastic is celebrating a massive milestone: 10 years dedicated to the love of graffiti and bringing the community together. Looking back to 2016, did you ever imagine you’d be celebrating a decade of success with an event of this scale?
When I started Cantastic in 2016, I honestly never imagined we’d be celebrating a 10-year anniversary on this scale.
It began as a personal passion project driven by my love for graffiti and the culture surrounding it.
Over the years, however, Cantastic has grown into something much bigger than myself.
Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to meet and work with incredible people who helped shape what Cantastic is today.
What started as my project slowly became our project.
Today, Cantastic is no longer just my thing, it belongs to a community of artists, friends, collaborators, customers, and partners who have all contributed to the journey. Seeing that happen is probably one of
the things I’m most proud of. Team Joopie stands as strong as ever, and this anniversary felt like a celebration of everyone who helped build it.
What made this anniversary especially meaningful was the overwhelming amount of positive feedback we received throughout the day. So many people came up to us to share stories, memories, and
appreciation for what Cantastic has contributed to the scene over the years. Those moments reminded me that our impact goes far beyond selling paint. It’s about supporting a culture and creating
connections that last.
2. The Event Concept & Collaboration with Verrev
For this 10th anniversary, you joined forces with Verrev at Broedplaats Oogst in Hengelo. How did this synergy come to life, and what was the main vision behind such a diverse lineup that combined music, workshops, exhibitions, and live printing?
The collaboration with Verrev felt very natural from the start. We share a similar vision when it comes to creativity, community, and independent culture. Broedplaats Oogst offered the perfect setting to bring
all these elements together.
For our 10th anniversary, we didn’t want to organize just another graffiti jam. We wanted to create an event that reflected everything that Cantastic has become over the years. Graffiti was at the heart of it,
but we also wanted space for music, exhibitions, workshops, publishing, printing, and creative
exchange. The goal was to create a complete cultural experience where different generations and disciplines could meet, connect, and inspire one another.
3. The Synergy with Loop Colors on the Wall (Graffiti Jam)
The Graffiti Jam featured writers from across the entire scene. How did the technical features and color palette of Loop Colors—a brand that has supported you for years—help the artists push their limits on the walls of Hengelo during the event?
Loop Colors has been one of the most important partners throughout the history of Cantastic. Our collaboration goes back nearly the entire 10-year journey, and their support has been instrumental in
helping us grow.
During the anniversary jam, artists had access to a wide and vibrant colour palette, excellent coverage, and the consistency needed to execute ambitious productions. Whether artists were painting large-
scale pieces, detailed characters, or experimental styles, the paint allowed them to focus entirely on creativity.
What makes our relationship with Loop Colors special is that it goes beyond products. Throughout the years we’ve shared the same passion for graffiti culture and the same belief in supporting the scene
from the ground up. Seeing writers from different generations and backgrounds painting side by side was a perfect reflection of what both Cantastic and Loop Colors stand for: supporting creativity and
keeping graffiti culture alive.
4. Behind the Scenes of a Full-Scale Festival
From the Behind exhibition with limited releases and video screenings to a heavy musical lineup featuring artists like keer & Boo and Tim Beumers—what was the biggest logistical challenge for the Cantastic team in coordinating such a packed and multi-faceted festival?
The biggest challenge was coordinating so many different elements while maintaining the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere people associate with Cantastic events.
Alongside the graffiti jam, we had the Behind exhibition, video screenings, workshops, live printing sessions, a pop-up shop, the release of Shameless Magazine, food, drinks, and a strong music lineup.
Each component had its own schedule, technical requirements, and team involved.
Fortunately, we were surrounded by an incredible group of volunteers, artists, partners, and friends who all contributed their expertise. Events like this are never the result of one person or one
organization. They happen because many people believe in the same vision and work together to make it happen.
5. The Highlight of the Decade
Between the graffiti jams, workshops, the Shameless Magazine release, and live music, the energy in Hengelo was unmatched. If you had to pick one single moment from June 20th, 2026, that will go down in Cantastic history, what would it be?
If I had to choose one moment, it would be looking around during the event and seeing all the people who helped build Cantastic over the years in one place.
There was a moment where the walls were filling up, the music was playing, people were walking through the exhibition, and friends, artists, volunteers, and visitors were all enjoying the day together. It
hit me then that Cantastic had become something much bigger than one person.
Hearing all the compliments throughout the day was incredibly rewarding, but realizing that so many people genuinely feel connected to what we’ve built together was probably the most memorable
moment of the entire anniversary.
6. Product Focus: The Dominant Colors
The Cantastic pop-up shop was packed with writers stocking up on spray paint and merch. Looking at the final walls of the jam, which Loop Colors shades or color combinations dominated the Dutch scene at this anniversary?
One of the most interesting aspects of the anniversary jam was the variety of styles and colour choices on display. We saw a strong presence of bold blues, rich purples, warm oranges, and high-contrast
combinations that really stood out across the walls.
At the same time, many artists combined vibrant colours with softer tones and greys to create depth and balance. The final walls reflected a Dutch graffiti scene that feels increasingly diverse, experimental,
and confident in its use of colour.
7. The Launch of the Limited Edition Can
An anniversary this important deserved a true collector’s item. You celebrated these 10 years with the launch of a special Limited Edition can by Cantastic and Loop Colors. Could you tell us about the creative concept behind the graphic design and what this exclusive release represents to you?
A 10-year anniversary deserved something special, so together with Loop Colors and Behind we created a limited-edition collector’s can that celebrates not only the history of Cantastic but also the values that
have guided us throughout the journey.
The design revolves around a slogan that perfectly captures our identity: Both Feet Underground.
That phrase means a lot to me personally. Over the years, Cantastic has grown into a successful business, but at heart we’re still the same graffiti nerds who started this journey because of our love for
painting, collecting, travelling, and being part of the culture. Commercial success has never changed
that mindset.
The can celebrates ten years of dedication, friendship, creativity, and community. At the same time, it serves as a reminder that no matter how much we grow, our roots remain firmly planted in the
underground scene that shaped us. We are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved, but we’re equally
proud that we’ve never lost touch with where we came from.
8. Cultural Impact: Pop-Up Shops and Independent Media
The event featured a pop-up shop with supplies and merch, alongside the release of Shameless Magazine. How important is it for Cantastic to be more than just a spray paint distributor, but a true cultural hub for independent publishing, printing, and street art?
From the beginning, my ambition for Cantastic was never simply to become a spray paint distributor.
Graffiti culture has always been connected to photography, publishing, graphic design, music, film, printing, and storytelling.
That’s why supporting independent magazines, exhibitions, artists, and creative projects is so important to us.
Projects like Shameless Magazine and the Behind exhibition demonstrate how much creativity exists within our culture beyond the walls themselves.
The anniversary event showed exactly why this matters. Visitors weren’t only buying paint or merchandise. They were discovering new artists, exchanging ideas, making connections, and
supporting independent creators. That’s the role I believe Cantastic should continue to play in the future: not just supplying products, but helping strengthen the wider culture around them.
9. Supporting the Underground Scene & Local Partners
In your announcement, you gave shoutouts to essential local partners like the Fuldauer Fonds, Uit in Hengelo, and Timber Sommerdijk for the poster design. How crucial is it to have the backing of local institutions and creative partners to keep underground culture thriving after 10 years?
Support from local institutions, organizations, and creative partners is absolutely essential.
Independent culture often starts from the ground up, but long-term sustainability requires collaboration and trust.
We are incredibly grateful to partners such as Fuldauer Fonds, Uit in Hengelo, Timber Sommerdijk, Verrev, Broedplaats Oogst, Loop Colors, and many others who helped make this anniversary possible.
Their support demonstrates that underground culture and local communities can strengthen one another when there is a shared commitment to creativity and cultural development.
After ten years, I can honestly say that Cantastic would not be where it is today without these partners and the people behind them.
10. The Future: The Next 10 Years of Cantastic
This anniversary marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next. What does the future hold for Cantastic in the Dutch graffiti scene, and where can writers go online to support you and grab their Loop Colors supplies?
This anniversary feels less like the end of a chapter and more like the beginning of a new one. My ambition remains the same as it was in 2016: to support writers, strengthen the scene, and create
opportunities for people to connect through graffiti and street culture.
At the same time, the biggest lesson from the last ten years is that Cantastic was never built alone.
Along the way, I’ve been lucky enough to work with amazing people who brought their own energy, ideas, and expertise to the project.
What started as my initiative has become something we share together. Cantastic is no longer just my story, it’s our story.
That’s something I’m incredibly proud of. Team Joopie stands as strong as ever, and together with our partners, artists, customers, and supporters, we’re excited to see what the next ten years will bring.
The long-standing partnership with Loop Colors is a perfect example of that. Their support, trust, and shared passion for graffiti have played a major role in everything we’ve achieved together.
Looking ahead, we want to continue investing in events, collaborations, publications, education, and opportunities for the next generation of writers. As long as there are people passionate about graffiti
and street culture, we’ll continue doing what we’ve always done: supporting the scene while keeping
Both Feet Underground.
Take care Frank
